Hey! Happy New Year!!! (Late…I know) I hope that you’re 2016 is going well. ❤ For me, 2015 ended amazingly and 2016 has already started with a bang. I’ve been busy working on 2 stories, and while both are speaking to me, I’m going to try to focus all my attention on one. (I go crazy trying to do two things at once. LOL!)

Not sure if you heard, but on January 6th, I released my 5th book. It’s a contemporary romance…a football love story, titled, Fumbled. The story idea came to me after a conversation my husband and I had about JJ Watt. We are both huge fans of his and we were talking about how hard it must be for him to meet someone who wants him for him and not his status and money.

And thus…Fumbled was born.

NAYAI had so much fun writing this book. It’s very light, sweet, and cute – little “drama.” I think that’s why I loved writing it so much, because it didn’t demand the same heartache that my other stories have. As I was writing, I found myself smiling and laughing…ultimately falling in love with all of my characters. My daughters saw how much I enjoyed the story and would ask me what was happening. It finally got to the point that they begged me to let them read it.

ADNow let me say this, if you’ve read anything of mine before, you know I write very “fade-to-black” scenes, but even those I don’t let my daughters read. So around Christmastime, I removed those scenes, cut out about 99% of the cuss words, and sent it to their kindles so they could read it. Since my niece is an avid reader, she wanted to read it as well. She read it in about 2 days, my younger daughter finished it in a few…my oldest just started reading it. But because of their interest, I was encouraged by my husband, sister, mom, and the kids to release a YA version alongside the regular version. I figured why not, I had it already formatted. 😉

I didn’t know what to expect from this release. I never do. But I have to say, I’ve been completely overwhelmed by the reception…especially in Australia. I mean…really??? Australia readers, you are amazing and I can’t thank you enough for spending time with these characters and helping to make Fumbled #49 overall there. (At least at the time of writing this post.)AD1

I suppose I should get back to writing. It’s a beautiful Saturday here in Texas and I plan on enjoying some of it. But I think I’m more excited to have a visit with Viola…Dani’s friend. 😉 I’ll keep you posted.

In the meantime, thank you everyone so very much for your continued support!! I’m blessed to have you. ❤ If you haven’t picked up your copy of Fumbled yet, it’s available exclusively on Amazon for only $2.99 and always free through KU.

  • Fourth, if you’ve been on the fence about whether or not #FindingLaila is the read for you, I wanted to share an excerpt. Maybe this will sway you toward reading 😉 :
    • Excerpt from Chapter 1“I guess we know the flavor of the week,” a female voice says from behind me, causing several others with her to laugh.I know they’re talking about me. They’re always talking about me. It’s been this way since I was in seventh grade, but I’ve made it my mission to ignore it.

“She certainly gets around,” another voice chimes in.

Cole is sitting to my left, Haden to my right and both guys are staring at the field, but neither is paying attention to the game. I watch out of my peripheral as Haden’s forearm muscles tense and relax while Cole bites his lip. They are intently focused on the words being thrown at me, but keep quiet for the time being.

“She must be good because they all stick around,” a guy’s voice states in salacious tone that makes me nauseous.

I don’t wait for another barb to be hurled my way, even though I know it’s coming. I throw my arm around Haden and whisper something in his ear before kissing his cheek then turning to do the same to Cole. I lean forward to see Joey, who is next to Cole and give him a wink, “I’ll get you later, Baby.”

He shakes his head and laughs, “Why must you stir the pot?”

Haden smiles – proud of my display – and it pushes me on.

I turn to look at the three classmates who have stopped chattering long enough to watch my little show, jaws hanging open. I shrug my shoulders, and answer Joey, “I’m just giving them what they want.”

One of the girls, Kasey, looks at me and raises a brow, “And what about Braxton?”

I glance over to Cole who’s listening to everything, but is still watching the game. He smirks, as if he knows what’s coming and a smile of my own begins to break.

They are gawking at me when I turn and wet my lips before winking at the girls.

“If he wins, we all win,” I say huskily.

“Touchdown!” The announcer yells and the crowd jumps to their feet to celebrate. All but the three jerks behind me.

Thank you so much for all the kind birthday wishes and reading this thing all the way to this point! ❤ I love you all so much and thank you for your support and encouragement. I’m still nervous about release day, but for some reason, not as scared as the other times. I absolutely love this book and it feels weird to admit that because I don’t want to sound obnoxious. I just truly loved writing it and fell in love with every character. So much that I wanted to live in my head and experience life WITH them. If you honor me with reading it for yourself, I hope that it touches you the way it did for me when I wrote it. And if it does, I would love to hear your thoughts if you review, so share with me. Please?

I hope you have a fabulous weekend and you’ll be seeing me again…soon!! ❤

So What’cha Want…

I remove the silky piece of material, and she pulls my body flush against hers.

“You feel so good,” I confess as my lips continue finding someplace new to touch.FTB

This woman is consuming every one of my senses, and I want more. My hands can’t touch her fast enough, and I want to taste every bit of her.

“You’re so beautiful,” I admit while looking at her naked body. Through the fog of the shots and beer, I see curves and skin and hips arching against me, and I drink her in. Damn, she’s sexy.

“So are you, t-” she says before my lips collide into hers. Her soft moans send my body into overdrive as I give in to the night neither of us planned and both of us want.

Wait for it….

I’ve heard it all and I get it – I do! You want the details.

What he did to her?

How he made her feel?

Did she have the best night of her life?

Was he the best she’s ever had?

How did he do it?

That damn FADE TO BLACK!

I love reading romance stories and the way the relationship builds – even that moment when they finally get to the good stuff! There are some writers who describe it so beautifully and delicately that it makes you swoon. There are others that describe – in great detail – every facet of the moment, making you blush. Then there are ones – like me – who work the fade to black and get the backlash for it.

I have to ask, why is the “fade to black” such a bad thing?

I remember as a kid (dating myself here) my parents watching Dallas or Knots Landing…or even soap operas – a love scene would come on…

They’re kissing all passionate and shit…

Cut to the mad rush to remove clothes…

He’s still kissing her as he walks her backward toward the bed…

*** Camera pans out, the screen blurs and focuses on the candle or some other cheesy object***

Yep, happened all the time.

Go back another 20-30 years, and there was none of that. A chaste kiss (if you were lucky) and maybe a shot of a messy bed. Cut to 9 months later, Jr. is popping out!! o_O

You knew exactly WHAT was happening without the detail. It wasn’t the act that was important, it was the story and how it developed.

I know I know!! I’m brining up television and movies when my subject is books – specifically writing. But really, is it any different?

Again, I have to repeat here, I LOVE READING ROMANCE….all types! The detailed AND the fade to black!

Let’s face it – if you’ve read my books, you know I write in the FADE TO BLACK persuasion. I could go into more detail about where he touches her, how she feels, but that’s not the way I write. If I did write it, I think it would come out awkward – so I write what I want to write. Some people read it and love the way the scene plays out. Others, which I’ve heard many times, feel cheated or that I chicken out. I can promise you, it’s not that at all.

I make no apologies for my stories,

the way I write

and what I write.

Any other writer will tell you the same thing.

Sad Teenage Girl

Of course I want you to read and love my books, but I also know that not everyone will. I can accept and appreciate that. Some will be pissed. Others will be disappointed. Some may never read another of my books again. But there is the crowd that WILL read. That’s who I write for…and myself. 😉

There is beauty in all stories and the relationships within them…the ones that make you blush from the content (yes! I read those!!!), the ones that detail love-making, the ones that detail F$%@ing, and YES – the ones that FADE TO BLACK. Every writer pours their heart and soul into their stories and does everything they can to bring all aspects to life in your imagination. It’s why I love reading so much – I SEE that movie when I’m reading it. I FEEL the emotions the characters are experiencing. DAMN! I love reading!!

Going back to the title of this post, “So What’cha Want?” – because if your imagination is vivid enough, you can see the scene in your mind, without my input. 😉

****FYI – this post is based off of feedback I’ve received from readers (both for and against FTB.) There is absolutely no malicious intent, nor am I knocking anyone’s work. I have so much love and respect for every writer who is brave enough to put themselves out there. ❤ ****

P.S. “So What’cha Want” by Beastie Boys has me rocking out at the moment. 😉

Been There ~ A Short Story by TK Rapp exclusively for PFMTBB fans and followers (Penny Lisa)

Lisa from Penny for My Thoughts Book Blog got an exclusive story!

You can only see it there!! 😉

Penny For My Thoughts Book Blog

In my short time as a blogger, I have made many meaningful relationships with authors.  One of my first, however, was with TK Rapp.  She is an amazing lovely person who also happens to be a wonderful writer.  Her first book, Being There, is the story of Cass and Drew.  Even though I read it almost a year ago, it is a story that has stayed with me and whose praises I cannot sing about loud enough.  So I am ever so pleased to share this lovely story that TK has written just for us!

But before we get started, let’s get you acquainted with Cass and Drew.

Synopsis 3

When Cass Howard was young, she never dreamed she would have the perfect job, living in New York, with an amazing man by her side.

That’s a good thing…because none of that ever happened.

Drew Alexander was the one person who knew…
